Deftly handling absurd comedy, heartfelt emotional rawness and pitch-black human darkness, Jojo Rabbit is a delicate balancing act of cinematic comedy that pays off well. An important reminder that the best “edgy“ comedy mocks the monsters and not the atrocities they commit.

Incidentally, one of my other takeaways from this was how curious I am to see what the hell Taika Watiti would do with a Kurt Vonnegut adaptation. Because based on this, I think he could succeed where others have failed.
