this is so intoxicating. weird, sensual, and romantic in so many levels. the music is overwhelming, the performances—cotillard particularly—are captivating, carax's direction is never less than audacious and whimsical, so much so that it feels like he just wants the film to be idiosyncratic withour ever really giving any strong narrative development. but hey, that's carax and i'm okay with that!
