    Jurassic Park

It's impressive that despite having grown up with this movie, knowing every line and even anticipating every scream and every cut, Jurassic Park still pounds with excitement, is still a breakneck rollercoaster ride of a movie.

It's also impressive that it remains so with such familiarity with the details of Speilberg's filmmaking. Even with knowledge of the technical workings and keeping an eye out for his "tricks", I was still thrilled--even more so, instead of being jaded about Speilberg's maneuvering…

    Warrens vs Witch.

I hadn’t paid attention at all to who directed this, but within the first two jumpscares I knew without looking that it wasn’t James Wan anymore. What a shame.

“I’m glad he’s on our side.”
    “For now.”

King of the Monsters set an incredibly high benchmark for Godzilla vs Kong to clear, at least for fans like me whose hearts beat in time with Ifukube’s original thundering theme for the great kaiju. And it’s clear from Tom Holkenberg’s off-beat rendition—or more properly, homage, to Ifukube’s song that Godzilla vs Kong is not going to come near that level of epic fan service.

But while this may be the first…
