Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone ★★★

Questionable line delivery from the young cast who, for many, was their first proper acting work aside, this first venture into J.K. Rowling’s cultural phenomenon of novels is helped immensely by the fantastic visuals, the stellar supporting cast of household British actors, and the tremendous score by John Williams, if writer-director Chris Columbus’ decision to cram as much from the novel in here makes for a labouring view where scenes and characters are forced to only be skirted over.
