Has a sequel ever been more tonally averse to its predecessor?
Also, what the hell did I just watch?
I didn’t hate it. I hated parts of it — the chainsaw “flirting” Leatherface does at the radio station sucks (I’m not into exploitation stuff) — but overall, it’s... funny? Bizarre? And genuinely horrifying at a couple points. The skin work with the electric knife is barfy.
Dennis Hopper is bananas.
I don’t know. I don’t think it’s a good movie. But it’s quite a thing to see. And it’s VERY DIFFERENT from the original. Kinda crazy that Hooper directed both.
PS heavy duty shades of MOTEL HELL — cannibalism sold to the masses AND a chainsaw fight.
