  Into the Spider-verse swung so this film can run. I don't really buy into the idea that this movie's art style "rips-off" spider-verse, although I do think it's inspired by and wouldn't exist without it. The film manages to find it's own style of asymmetrical characters who blend together to make a messy and gross, but also endearing portrait of life on earth.   I watched this in college when I went over to a friend's house who happened to be watching it on VHS. After about 20 mins of some of the worst shit ever put to screen I snatched the VHS cover while asking "who directed this shit" . . . I will never forget the scream of shock and horror I let out when I saw the answer.

  Idk man, the anti-marvel crowd seems especially angry at this one, which is odd b/c out of all the marvel films this is the one that most agrees with them that it's a dumb movie for babies. Literally, I don't know how else you can read the third act other than it saying "Superheroes and their stories are for the kids".
