"I am big. It's the pictures that got small." What a great line. As much as I like 'The Player', this one beats it hands down as a dark self-reflection of Hollywood - I love the commentary on the changes wrought by the shift to talkies, even more so understanding how many people involved in this film really lived through it. The film noir stylings; the aging star's affectations; the cynicism of the failing writer. Wow. ...and... I have to say it. "Norma, you're a woman of 50, now grow up." That stings.
