  The Gundam equivalent of turning Spock's Brain into a full movie.

  I'm glad Yasuhiko got to make another Gundam movie, and I'm glad he seemed to have fun with it. Plus, it's nice to see the OG characters goofing around. But, this is still a 1 hour and 40 minute adaptation of a 20 minute filler episode that became a meme due to bad animation. So, it does sag a bit at times.

  Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack 1988

  There's a scene in Char's Counterattack that used to confuse me but I now realize is key to "getting" the movie. 

  Amuro and Char are having their final duel in Axis. Amuro explains to Char that revolutionaries like him are misanthropes. They emerge out of academia and philosophy and claim to speak for the masses. When they bring in a revolution they soon see that the world ushered in doesn't allign with the theoretical framework they've created. As a result,…
