Good energy but I did not get the songs at all.
I love many of Spielberg’s movies so it was great to see behind-the-scenes footage and hear stories about his process and everything surrounding it. I also appreciated how the filmography was presented in order. That really helped visualize his legacy and growth.
Alas, I thought there was way too much praise being thrown around for 2 hours. I would have definitely preferred a more rounded look at his work; him talking about his successes as well as his failures. As it…
This is a difficult one to review cause I can see its brilliance objectively, but subjectively it really isn’t my thing. I can’t connect to the themes or the characters, nor do I really enjoy watching the kind of violence and depravity that signifies the mafia genre - here on full display for two and a half hours. I like a well crafted story, which this certainly is, but I don’t know, I suppose it’s the combination of guns, cocaine and the struggles of power-hungry men that just doesn’t interest me.
