The pacing was definitely a lot, It could have been way tighter imo. Pretentious? Maybe, but I don't think so. Does it lean on itself? Sure, but it has to because it created its own mythology. Also, the cinematography and color palette is just as beautiful, striking, and bold as the original. The story also has a lot more going on compared to the 70’s version. I felt genuinely engrossed in the narrative.
