Rohan Mistry’s review published on Letterboxd:
“Boredom makes men to villains.”
Visionary filmmaker Robert Eggers’s second feature is a wicked, maniacal, bizarre depiction of pure madness. Career-defining performances from Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, spewing absolute nonsense for two hours straight. Exquisitely shot in a 1.19:1 aspect ratio with black and white coloring, absorbing the audience into the rainy, noisy, unsettling world inside the lighthouse. Dense, unnerving, and hard to pinpoint, The Lighthouse is an excellently styled and rendered piece of psychological horror that has endless interpretations and embraces its ambiguity. Just completely unhinged.
