I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen THE SHINING - either at home or on the big screen. Tonight, though, as I watched the new 4K restoration on the big screen from the front row, I was filled with utmost certainty that THE SHINING is a perfect film. The performances have been parodied to death, Kubrick’s direction picked to death - but if you let yourself get lost in the film and not it’s legacy, it becomes clear that this movie is one of the greatest films ever made.
Some people will say there is too much happening on screen to process during the finale of AVENGERS: ENDGAME. I will place the blame on myself. I’m not enough for this audacious, masterful culmination of a decade of movies. Simply put, this film is why I love going to the cinema.
