Robert Gardiner’s review published on Letterboxd:
“You know, no matter how fast you drink it the distilleries can still stay way ahead of you.“
A perfectly watchable murder/noir from Anthony Mann, with the classic noir narrative . With the film starting out with the murder, then through flashbacks and voiceovers the reasons for said murder are revealed. Staring Erich Von Stroheim, Mary Beth Hughes and Dan Duryea. Hollywood really had a thing against women in the 40s , they were almost always manipulators or murders and this definitely ticks one off them boxes. Good but not a classic of genre, watched on Talking Pictures Tv.
