Watching this today, just have to ask why it took me this long to watch it for the first time. Gloria Swanson’s performance is phenomenal showcasing Norma Desmond’s issues as she copes with being an ageing Hollywood star. William Holden is also fantastic but it’s a less flashy performance. And that final five minutes is some of the best work on screen.
