The Double Life of Véronique

The Double Life of Véronique ★★★★★

My single paragraph expression of adoration:

This has now become my most favourite Kieslowski and for many reasons; the sheer beauty of every reflection and golden hued frame, the intrigue of the doppelganger mystery, the focus on minor details (a teabag gyrates in a glass as if the suns beams are tickling it), the gamut of emotion and human experience, the wondrous score that tingles the spine, the radiant Irene Jacob playing two finely nuanced roles, the complex and purposefully oblique narrative that will reward more on every viewing, and most of all - That feeling that you are watching a cinematic work that knows no boundary in its timeless and transcendent meditation on life. A film for the ages that surely modern Auteurs such as David Lynch or Shane Carruth were influenced by in their equally splendid works.
