Shithouse 2020
really good "small comedy" all over this thing, and it takes advantage of its weirdly unique, but universally relatable premise in specific bits and ideas. the phone calls to mom are maybe the strongest dramatic efforts at play here. otherwise, this unfortunately did not bring it home for me. that second ending is confounding to me. but i'm glad a lot of folks like it and its sweet little heart!

Henry Gamble's Birthday Party 2015
A fountain of heartbreaking and hilarious details. A modest and tender little drama. The set up of all the ensemble players had me a little hesitant, but once the thing was in motion, it all unfolds very elegantly. This House Has People in It 2016
I loved this so much. The visual concept executed so brilliantly, and like Unedited Footage of a Bear, Alan Resnick approaches really dark, human ideas through such abstract and absurdist extremes. It might be an overstatement, but these past two shorts of his have shown David Lynch levels of artistic precision. I can't wait to see Buddy Duress and Jonah Hill yell at each other for 91 minutes straight,, and then for Buddy Duress to, like, get hit by an ice cream truck and explode upon impact.
