A movie that is not as great as the sum of it's parts. Great direction, fantastic acting (I'm looking at you Laurie Metcalf) and incredibly funny. But having said that, nothing really happens. The movie is just a series of events. There's no real story. If this were a 10 episode Netflix series centered around the 10 main events of the movie (Thanksgiving, Christmas, prom, etc.) it would be the best show on TV/Streaming.
