Rosie’s review published on Letterboxd:
Finally decided to rent the second installment of the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man action-adventure since the plane was playing the latest one. Holland returns as Peter Parker and the title character, during a school summer trip to Europe, Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson, exhorts Peter to help them destroy mysterious creatures from an alternative reality before they destroy civilization. The action and CGI look great in this. Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marisa Tomei, and Jon Favreau were fantastic. Zendeya’s deadpan reminded me of her character on Euphoria. I did enjoy watching Holland and Zendeya on-screen together. Jacob Balaton's comic relief was targeted more at younger audiences. It’s a high school comedy with a cliche teenage crush storyline mixed in with superhero tropes. But it’s expected. Although this went in many directions, I’m glad they took the time to flesh out the villain. I thought the linear story was compelling, this was fun.
