Day 27 of Halloween 2022

The creeping dread of this one, building the quietly palpable despair of a small town struck with a mysterious plague. The way it masterfully unravels into abject terror, and the interplay between the two moods, is tense, ambiguous, and disturbing. This is a long-ass slow burn but I love the way it forces the viewer to sit in the discomfort, feeling the desolation, the increasingly malignant atmosphere. There's a lot going on here and it definitely warrants a second watch, but what an incredible thing.
