Day 31 of Halloween 2022 (Part 1)

This just didn’t work for me. I hated the pacing, it felt like every scene was just rushing to get to the next one without any time to live with the characters and get to know them better. And the visuals didn’t really grab me either??? Which hurts to say for a Selick film especially. Feels bad all around since these are two phenomenal filmmakers who could have been a perfect match. 

It has a heart, I can feel the love. There’s something here I really love the shape of, the story, the characters, but the telling of the story is everything for me and this telling didn’t land.
