I feel like most others who finish watching this film. You love it, you can’t make sense of it all but you can feel it. Mulholland Drive is a surreal visceral experience that the more I’ve thought about the scenes the more impressed I am with it. As soon as the film finished to say I was a little confused about what I watched would be hundred percent correct. Trying to piece it together in your head is quite tough…

Uncovering and learning the truth around exposed atrocities can be harrowing. Whether that it’s the contents or butchery of cattle for food consumption or inhumane war crimes in Vietnam broadcast in the media. We’re fed a lie and deceived because we couldn’t handle the truth if we really knew what was going on. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is relentless and menacing, it makes you feel like you’re constantly being beaten over the head as you uncover the truths around you…

Super difficult to get behind Tolkien as a writer in this film as it mostly fails to get behind anything that influenced his stories. Sure friendship and the causalities of war are shown but it fails to translate that into his writing until the last five minutes so everything leading up to that is a dreary period drama meandering plot point to plot point failing to capture anything remotely that interesting to Tolkien himself.

Completely struggled to connect with this in any way; whilst the added CG elements worked well with the quirky characters and story most describe the colours in this film as beautiful but I honestly couldn’t see that apart from colour was used because it was, but not invoking a particular theme or feeling to the scenes as it should be. Thematically it’s finding of love in an unique, peculiar puzzly way was a little weak for me, I found conflict…

Anger is built up within a failed system, a system that should to protect, nurture and develop with equality for all. Pillars of this system that serve to protect fail to contain their power, abuse it for personal agenda that leads to hate. That hate is matched with anger in a concrete jungle, foundations of poverty in a circle that can never be broken. There’s no escape.

Who needs fucking dialogue when you have a thunderous, booming soundtrack like this roaring in your ear drums elevating every scene in this two hour epic of Sex, decapitations and a cult. Even when words are spoken it’s a foretold story of power, legends and heroism as we pan and explore across mountains and deserts in the sweltering heat as Conan goes on a bloody war path cutting limbs from torso. The wheel of life, birth and death and punching a camel.
