Unfettered. Flourishing. Free. Inspirational. Aesthetic. A new-age masterpiece.

A near-perfect work of art that can never be replicated. Let's hope nobody is stupid enough to try.

    Time destroys everything.

Time robs us of our lives, time takes away our loved ones and time erodes away feeling and passion with an almost malicious intent. But in the case of Irreversible we are given a reverse narrative that ironically and maybe even unintentionally shows us that time also heals things no matter how awful.

This French masterpiece by Gaspar Noe travels into the deepest, darkest, smelliest rectum of France to expose a brutal crime that sends the lives…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Have you ever seen a story that begins with a gunshot and ends with a cumshot?

    No?

    Well I just did...

And it was one of the most horrifyingly beautiful psychedelic experiences I've ever had the pleasure of viewing in my life.

From what I read about the movie it seems to be pretty hit or miss with people. I pity the people who saw no substance in this film. Because underneath its nightmarish outer layer is a film that…

Enter the Void is a literal out-of-body experience whose first half is a masterpiece. It is also a movie that is 1 hour too long. Sigh. The first 30 minutes are Noé's technical best and one of the most innovative usages of the camera I've seen in modern cinema. The 1st person POV long takes of a drug trip and a consequent drug bust are nothing short of amazing. The camera moves constantly yet it is never out of control:…

Certain films you love because they touch you personally. Others you love because they tell a story so gripping you feel part of it yourself. Some you love for their part in shaping you as a cinephile, even as a person. Then there are the handful of films you love simply because you must love: because they represent so bold an authorial vision, so striking a view of the world, so wholly unique a perspective on life through cinema, that…

So I came home late, fairly tipsy, got into bed, was listening to Fear of Music and I just chucked this on for some reason. Ten minutes in, I remembered Philip Glass did the score so I knew I had to restart it and watch it properly.

Koyaanisqatsi examines the peaceful nature and busy chaos of the world we live in. The highs and lows of Glass’ score is perfect as he experiments with the sound in glorious tandem with…

Now this was a wonderful movie, full of life and emotion and joy. It's sad and funny and touching and sweet in all the right ways. It's filled with great performances, a strong Screenplay and excellent direction. You can't help but love this movie.

Is is the best picture of the year as per the Oscars? I don't think so. I really liked it but I thought there were better or stronger or more original movies out there in 2021.…

CATCHING UP WITH CLASSICS - FILM #22

Despite this being a romantic drama, it isn't hard to believe the same person made this and Nosferatu.

F.W. Murnau is an expert at storytelling in silent films with no need for many intertitles. This is a silent film that doesn't force you to read any dialogue unless it's either extremely relevant/important or a stylistic choice, which makes for a much more relaxed viewing experience.

Concurrently, the visuals, all the way down to…

    Joshua White

★★★½ Watched by Joshua White 16 Apr 2022

Ambulance is dumb fun to the max. If you like Michael Bay, you’ll like it. If you hate Michael Bay, you’ll probably hate it. he’s not reinventing the wheel here, but if you come expecting a fun, fast thrill ride, you’ll be in for a treat. Also Gyllenhaal and Yahya were literally perfect for this.
