    I think this one goes harder on the 2001 references than every other piece of Evangelion media, which is saying something.

    There is so much that I admire about this film, from Saul Bass' titles to Alex North's beautifully haunting score to an array of scene stealing performances from an absolutely stacked cast. The buildup to the big battle (if not the battle itself) is breathtaking. Seeing it projected in 70mm on a big screen was, in so many ways, a great experience (though marred somewhat by projectionist blunders).
