Burning ★★½

It's often extraordinarily beautiful and almost always really intriguing, but as it goes on (for forever) it started to strike me as something that's actually hollow trying to pass as profound through prestige vagueness. The whole Schrödinger's cat thing is a good example of that, as it starts as this wonderfully mysterious, and evocatively literary, subplot for teasing what's unknown to the protagonist, that then gets emptied by a half-assed literalization. Someone's still ought to make a masterpiece out of Murakami, this is not it.
