Bone Tomahawk

Bone Tomahawk ★★★★

An authentic western first and foremost, yet delves into horror so effortlessly. Through its superb writing and dim color palette, it successfully creates a lived in world that feels old school on almost every level. Very little happens for a large majority of its runtime, yet we get some wonderful character development and interactions; some heartfelt, others vicious. Some moments feel unbearably slow moving, yet it all works as immensely satisfying build-up of tension. Violence is used sparingly, yet is so brutal and unflinchingly memorable in its execution.

Zahler is working on top form. His style and unique sense of realism makes for truly unforgettable experiences.
