Nerve might be the most 2010s movie I have seen. It is drenched in synth and neon. Every turn brings another neon palette more magnificent than the former. The soundtrack is as much of a character as it is a mood. For the most part, it is very laid back which worked with the anticipation of the next crazy dare. The dares built on top of each other creating high risks for everyone involved, even the watchers.
Emma Roberts really has found her niche in weird genre roles ranging from being a scream queen to tech queen and everything in between. She commands each scene and her range in this movie alone was impressive. Her innocent demeanor at the beginning of the movie evolving into her own person was an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride.
