Robert Motherwell’s review published on Letterboxd:
Stunningly directed, incredible masterpiece about love, memory, and ultimately a study of the creative process.
Desire hardly begins to sum up these characters or the emotion driving the film. At each step it threatened to derail from the story or become lost in its own artistic luster, only to reveal an even deeper layer of meaning through intense character examination.
The film seems to dance between reality, a fictional future set in 2046, and a surreal subconscious revealing itself in a hotel in in room 2046.
So much mystery with so much delirious detail as well as exotic and stimulating romance.
A masterpiece as only Wong Kar-Wai could make.
