Ruffa Ronan (Viola Davis stan)’s review published on Letterboxd:
After a long day, rewatched this alonside Magnolia. Beutiful and disturbing film but not as disturbing as Midsommar was. This was an incredible feature length debut from writer/director Ari Aster who uses human emotions such as grief, regret, and sadness to craft a modern day horror masterpiece that is both smart and scary. Ari Aster's groundbreaking direction make for a film that is memorable and truly a must-see for fans of horror.
Toni Collette! She was phenomenal and one of the great horror film performance. But in all honesty, she was nowhere near Kathy Bates in Misery. She ain't gonna outdid what Kathy Bates did in Misery and Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs. Kathy Bates's performance in Misery is the best performance in a horror film i've seen, EVER. Kathy Bates is untouchable in her place. Collette, again amazing but nowhere near the perfect performance by Kathy Bates. NOWHERE!
A- for me
