So entrenched in its penchant for nihilism - a desperation to cling to apathy - that it ends up saying absolutely nothing. Everyone suffers, all the time — especially the women, to the point that I felt their exploitation was fetishized. It’s validation for on-the-fence atheists, supposing that godliness is next to sociopathy, and that God has been and always will be needlessly wrathful. First Reformed without the nuance or insight.
