Joe’s review published on Letterboxd:
Being a sequel Spiderman movie has to be one of the most daunting things in the world because the perfect Spiderman sequel already exists and has been so influential you really are just David against Goliath in that instance.
It's fine, I didn't hate this movie and it serves as a good epilogue for the events of Endgame which was gonna be a hard act to follow anyway. We get some closure and view into the state of the world post Endgame which helps transition into the new stuff to come and at the center of it is Peter who just wants to escape from that stuff for a while and live life as a teenager.
This is good concept on paper and Myterio is a great villain for that theme but it feels like it's juggling a bit too much again. We even start to get the MJ and Peter's relationship started and it just gets kinda shoved to the side. I could say some shit about how it's kinda awkward feeling but that is sort of the point when its a highschool relationship, it's gonna be awkward and that aspect is probably the strongest part about it. Kinda wish it was just thought out a bit more.
It's decent but it sadly can never be Spiderman 2
