Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit ★★★½

The visual language of film and how one can use that for comedy is managed yet again by Taika Waititi, the film cracked me up with how one has to frame a shot with the incredibly tall Stephen Merchant. I found myself to be really drawn into this world and the characters that are within it but I also found myself not really laughing that much at the comedy within this comedy film. The comedy worked for me when it was coming from the more traditional actors and children who play it straight thus getting the laugh but when the known comedy people (except Stephen Merchant) spat out jokes it just felt forced and more often than not just fell flat and that includes the selling point of this film which is Taika as Hitler. Overall this film has a lot going for it and I see why people are loving it but I found it to be a great film in sections and an average film for the rest but one still worth seeing for yourself.
