Well... I was not expecting that ending. It's definitely a slow burn and the payoff is worth it in the end. The film holds your attention the entire time because, just like Rex, you want to find out where this is going and what happened to his wife. Imagine you get to see what really happened in one of those unsolved mysteries - that's this film. It leaves you perturbed and is just eerie.

As everyone has already stated, this film is beautiful. So much of it looks like it was shot on location yet was shot entirely in a studio.

Nick Cage is in on the joke.

This film is weird, ridiculous, and hilarious but sincere and thoughtful. It explores deep existential themes about life, regret, nihilism, and love with the use of ridiculous humor. Throughout the entire film, I was laughing my ass off and at other times holding back tears - sometimes both at the same time which I didn't think was possible. This is one of the best movies I've seen in theatres in a while - absolutely a must-watch.
