Easily one of the best movies I’ve seen this year... a beautiful story about friendship surrounded by laugh out loud comedic moments.
Taika Waititi has become a must-watch director for me, every movie from him so far has got me emotionally invested with all the characters and this is no different. Not many directors could make a movie about this subject matter and make you feel so many different emotions from scene-to-scene.
The acting from all the actors, but especially the two leads (Jojo and Elsa) is fantastic. The script has lots of funny moments which plays with the stupidity of the Nazis, but also makes you think about how messed up that time was. I didn’t think a coming of age set in Nazi Germany about a boy with an imaginary friend Hitler (played by a Jewish man) befriending a Jew would be so fantastic but here we are.
Please go and see this movie!
