Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith ★★★

Happy Revenge of the Fifth!

Also this, TASM2, and X-Men: First Class were my all time fav films in fifth grade, just wanna say that because whenever I watch those films I get a nostalgia blast

REALLY good first 27 minutes, great ROTJ throne room parallel and Obi-Wan/Anakin dynamic

Really hate the CGI face replacements for Dooku and Sheev throughout this, but they are old.

Ewan McGregor is a gem

Everything’s a goddamn green screen.

Really great to watch this now knowing that Ahsokas on Mandalore as this all happens

Padmé went from epic badass pew pew mf to hehe giggle giggle in love and pregnant

Anakin: “Me? A master? I’m overwhelmed sir.”
Also Anakin during this line delivery 😐

I think showing THE Darth Vader as a whiny child who’s mad he doesn’t get a rank handed to him is a misstep for Star Wars

"Is it possible to learn this power?”
“Not from a Jedi... no... in fact many already have this power out of nowhere. We call it force healing!”

Hayden Christensen cannot physically or verbally emote

Damn I JUST realized Obi-Wan force projected

Grievous as a concept makes me mad, the lightsaber is an elegant and refined weapon, not some kind of thing you’d just casually whip out four of and start spinning them like an idiot. Not to mention Grievous is an ass fighter in this, every two seconds he loses a saber or a hand

Clone CGI is just terrible. There’s no good reason as to why they made 0 practical Clone Suits

The Jedi: “Hmmm lots of dark side energy around the power hungry Chancellor... wonder who that Sith Lord guy is.”

Grievous’ death is a lot less cool/cinematic than I remember

Mace vs Sheev is such a terribly choreographed fight with horrible CGI

Palpatine and Yoda using sabers sucks, especially Yoda as in ESB his main point was that weapons are not a reliable source of strength and are often vehicles of power

The “I need him”/“Unlimited power” scene is SO great now that I know Ahsoka was hearing it as it occurred

Palpatines design/makeup is really odd and has nothing on ROTJ palp

Why does Sidious’ voice go all electronic for like one scene and only one scene

Order 66 is truly a beautiful scene, John Williams did not hold back on this one

The youngling scene genuinely breaks my heart

Why the fuck would Chewbacca even be a front and center character in this lol. Also this mans went from second in command of the Wookiee army to smuggler

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: having 3PO and R2 in the PT is such a stupid idea for the pure idea of nostalgia, it doesn’t even make sense

The dialogue when Padmé confronts Anakin on Mustafar is atrocious

Hayden isn’t half bad at acting when he does “You will not turn her against me!” and “I hate you!”

Anakin vs Obi-Wan is a little too extravagant for my liking but hoo baby that score 😩

Also Yoda vs Sidious sucks balls

“Not if anything to say about it, I have!” Makes me want to puke

Why does Yoda give up after dealing a winning blow lmao

“I should’ve known the Jedi were plotting to take over!...From my point of view the Jedi are evil!” Wtf is this mans talking about he knows the Jedi weren’t plotting jack shit, Mace was arresting the man that he ratted out

High ground was a great callback to Maul/Duel of the Fates

The Immolation scene has a beautiful scene with some genuinely heart wrenching dialogue

Padmé’s death seemed half assed, she just “lost the will to live”? And how would Leis remember her

Loved the whole birth of the twins and death of Padmé during the birth of Vader and death of Anakin thing, great parallel

George you gave Vader the wrong armor you silly man!

“NeeeeeeOooooooooo!” Is the last thing you’d ever want to hear the iconic Darth Vader say as he cheesily poses for the camera

Dislike the binary sunset ending, in ANH it stood for something so great, here it’s used for a cheap “hey look at this shit lol we did it in the first one remember!?” I mean what the fuck are Owen and Beru looking off to the horizon for. They couldn’t care less about the future of the Jedi or anything relevant to the time.

Unrelated: but I’d just like to add this (which are my own personal thoughts so don’t get your parties in a knot over this)

I personally think that with this and the OT, Star Wars has ended, the ST adds literally nothing to the story which already had a resolve and ending for its characters and plot. During my rewatches idk if I see myself going into the ST after the OT. I dint mean to sound like a “they aren’t cannon” type of guy but uhh... I don’t really consider them to be anything.
