Dares to do what most other kaiju films won't, have a compelling human subplot. My only real complaint about this movie is that Ghidorah barely features in it despite the title, when he does show up though it is pretty awesome.
The fact that Whoopi Goldberg's performance in this movie isn't talked about as one of the greatest performances today is a crime. She brought me to tears so many times in this movie I almost lost count. The scene where Shug shows her some amount of warmth and love, and she almost doesn't know how to process it, is particularly heartbreaking.
Pardon my language but...Spielberg directs the shit out of this movie. It's so fun to see him really let loose and have fun with this new medium, Tintin being Spielberg's first animated movie. I sincerely hope Spielberg and Jackson will be able to make their sequel one day.
