Chris Dominique II’s review published on Letterboxd:
All I can really largely say against it is that the first part of the movie feels like it moves at a thousand miles an hour to get to where it really wants to be. But ya know what, it works. For all the big names in this movie, including surprise appearances from Chris Rock, Snoop Dogg, and Bob Odenkirk, watching Eddie Murphy have a blast as a man known for having a blast was so much fun. I hadn’t heard of Rudy Ray Moore before but now I’ll be dammed if I don’t go watch his classics, along with Black Dynamite to top it off. An energetic, laugh-along film, Dolemite Is My Name is a fine time and a great way to learn about the early days of blaxploitation filmmaking in the 70s.
