Phantom Thread

Phantom Thread ★★★★★

A total dream. PTA dials it back here by working within a more classical framework, yet his slippery modernist touch remains and mesmerizes. While this is ostensibly about the "great creative man" and the women in his life, the unusual dynamic between the sublime Vicky Krieps and DDL lifts this into a more matured exploration of marriage and love. Jonny's incomprehensibly great and surprisingly jazzy score does wonders. Romantically, visually, tonally - this is next-level assured and pleasurable. It's also quite funny. Get lost in the texture and stitching.
