This was so good. Takes a bit of time to kick into gear, but it gives you a lot to sink into before just going for it. Deeply appreciate the film's absurdity and the fact that it does not try to convince you of the absurdity's actual seriousness. Strong horror setting and genre impulses that lead to some spectacular action unfolding. saw a Jackie chan clip right after and was thinking the the athleticism of the villian was surprisingly similar. by all means, I don't mean that it was anywhere near Jackie's level, but the jumping and use of objects (the chair throw across the giant room!!) and parkour-adjacent work was really striking in a way I haven't seen a lot of recently. really versatile movement. great horror movie you put on when you know what's going to happen but your friends don't and you just can't wait to see how they'll react to the craziness.
