My favourite franchise, and one of the best in it. But in all six films I had not predicted the killer with such confidence as I did with this one. I could write a whole review on how annoyingly obvious it was and how that negatively impacted a really, really good film. But I’ll settle for a few frustrations.
The minute Quinn mentioned her brother had died and her dad followed her to New York, I knew this would be a play on the original sequel (and Friday the 13th) with a twist. A parent of a previous killer, but with other family involved. It’s unfortunate that there were such obvious clues moving forward (such as Wayne letting his daughter live with a suspected murderer/victim being hunted, or him going on a witch-hunt with them only minutes after seeing his daughter’s supposedly dead body).
At the end of the day, I had so much damn fun that I can let it go. I love Scream and this is absolutely one of the best sequels! Hoping a final film can finally put this franchise to rest and go out with a bang.
