Sam Herbst’s review published on Letterboxd:
Robbie is so, so tremendous here. Her performance cuts through everything wrong with tone and styling and she lands it hard. It’s crazy how much the film devotes to the other characters knowing what they had from her alone.
The first Z.Z. Top and the triple axle routines are genuinely thrilling, and the action camerawork captures the moment well. I don’t care about the face mapping issues, sorry!!!!
Nicholson still rules, I’d risk it all for Stan’s mustache, and Janney isn’t quite as bad as we all thought at the time.
The glibness when it comes to the abuse is still very tough to digest, and the movie’s fatal mistake remains its focus on Stan and Hauser and the act itself. Worth it for Robbie, hands-down.
