This movie gets a bad rep because Judy Holliday won Best Actress over Bette Davis (All About Eve) and Gloria Swanson (Sunset Boulevard). While personally, I would 100% give it to Swanson, like seriously that performance is like... damn, Judy Holliday was still absolutely terrific. I get why she won. Her comedic timing is brilliant, and her emotion is over the top. She’s a very entertaining character to see and reminded me of Mira Sorvino in Mighty Aphrodite. The script is so good because the jokes incorporated with her character are so smart and hilarious, and the character interaction is so believable. It’s unfortunate that this movie gets so much hate, even if Judy Holliday wasn’t the best nominee. She still deserved it tho!!!
