Flee ★★★★½

An utterly moving and consistently unique documentary that combines several bold artistic visions in order to create power. Flee isn’t just influential or impressive, it’s revolutionary. The amount of creativity that oozes out of the animation and overall style provides a hook for the audience to grasp onto within seconds. While the animation caught me off guard at first, I was able to not only get used to it but appreciate the frantic, skippy rhythm as it’s symbolic of our main character’s story and feeling. It’s an experience that makes me feel grateful for the life I’ve had, and feel hopeful for those who are in troubled situations and appear lost. Cinema needs to bring more stories like this to the screen.
