I love this movie. The performances are incredible. Donna Reed is just incandescent and Jimmy Stewart is completely unhinged in the best way. Everybody remembers the angels and the alternate universe stuff but for the 90 minutes in between those things, it's one of the best movies about small-town life ever made.
Totally delightful/partially animated documentary about Matt Furie, one of my favorite cartoonists, who became the unwilling focus of a horrible firestorm of hatred during the run-up to the 2016 election. I watched it because I love Furie and find him to be a really sweet, gentle dude, but I liked best the pieces that interviewed various internet trolls and political operatives explaining how Pepe the Frog metastasized into the a really complicated and multivalent symbol of a number of different kinds of hate. Good double bill with Terry Zwigoff's Crumb.
