Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit ★★★★½

Jojo Rabbit is one of those films for me that exceptionally builds upon itself. Some scenes might not fit together with others super well but somehow it just works. It’s consistently engaging, clever and outright hilarious.

The performances across the board are amazing. Roman Griffin Davis is a huge find and gives one of the best child performances ever. Scarlett Johansson is deadset incredible here, like she was worthy of getting a supporting actress nod from the academy for this in my opinion. The relationship between her and her son is so well realised and adds so much warmth to the film. Michael Giacchino’s score is also fantastic.

Jojo Rabbit has no right whatsoever to work but Taika Waititi pulls it off and delivers a film that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. There aren’t many films that have me laughing out loud and then moments later my heart sinks and I’m close to tears.

It probably has one of the best uses of the F-Bomb in a film rated M/PG-13 as well.

One of my favourites from last year.
