Sam Thompson’s review published on Letterboxd:
I love seeing movies this good come out of Australia. The camerawork and action scenes are unique and memorable. Whannell does a fantastic job at stretching his budget and bringing this world to life.
Logan Marshall-Green is really good and has scenes that don’t seem like a walk in the park. For example, when Grey is not in control of his body, his face and reactions are not in tandem with his body’s movements.
Upgrade is like an amalgamation of RoboCop, The Terminator and many other 80’s action movies. The violence is gritty and brutal. It doesn’t try to be anymore than gripping piece of entertainment.
Loads of fun. Check it out if you missed it.
