Don't Breathe

Don't Breathe ★★★★★

Much like my other favorite film of the year(Green Room), this film mixes horror and suspense in a way that blurs the line between the two genres. I've already heard people who think one aspect of the film is despicable and could be left out. But this is the piece of the horror that needs to be in it most. It informs one of the characters with a level of menace and eye-widening monstrosity that is still grounded by the character's motivation. The reason an action can be seen as truly horrifying is the fact that you can see why a person is doing it even if it doesn't make sense to you.

I'm rhapsodizing here, but I think this movie is terrific. It's very suspenseful and has some great characters and performances. Levy and Lang are the standouts and they both play their parts to perfection.
