Zombieland: Double Tap

Zombieland: Double Tap ★★★

Much more reliable as a comedy than as an action film (and it's not much of a horror film at all, probably only earning the moniker in passing just because there's zombies). The first film was breezy and warmhearted despite the subversive humor, and this film doesn't change the formula even a bit. That's got some clear repercussions, most notably due to the fact the first film managed to arrive before the deluge of zombie related media, and despite the decade gap, nothing about this feels like anything more than a pretty modest reunion tour. But I found it weirdly pleasant and enjoyable, probably thanks to the cast (especially Zoey Deutch, who makes the most of what I can assume was a pretty terrible looking role on the script page), and the "family" aspect is far better here than whatever Reese and Wernick were trying to do in Deadpool 2.
