As fun and impressive as much of this is, there's a real ugliness behind some of the gags that just kinda sinks it for me. It's not that I'm offended by AIDS jokes or gay rape panic, it's just that those moments are so inessential to the plot and so tonally out of place from the rest of the movie that I'm mostly just baffled by their inclusion. In a movie that seems to go out of its way to sexualize a teen girl, I guess the worst thing a person could be is a fag?
Still -- it's kinda crazy to see Jackie star in something as hyperstylized and consciously meta as this, interacting with both martial arts past (Game of Death) and future (Street Fighter II). I'm probably going to have this song stuck in my head for a while.
