Liz’s review published on Letterboxd:
I get the feeling that working with Jodorowsky must’ve been like working with Prince. Fifty frogs in Conquistador garb? Sure! A hundred skinned and crucified dogs? If you say so!
Still indescribably beautiful, though I can’t help but be repulsed by Jodorowsky’s homophobia — especially as he paints his parade of increasingly grotesque capitalists with similarly gross stereotypes. I guess he thinks it’s clever that Mars is portrayed as a man-hating butch; the genocidal accountant a nelly queen; and the self-worshipping cop a pederast?
