All Quiet on the Western Front

All Quiet on the Western Front ★★★★

My great great Uncle William Albert Jones was shot in the head at Arras on Easter Monday 1917, there was an article on him in the 'Shropshire Star', it includes a haunting photograph of him stood outside the shop he worked at, in front of a recruitment poster. Possibly the one that made him sign up to the KSLI in 1915. He was only 21. His brother tried to get out the war by cutting his hand with his bayonet, only to be transferred to another regiment. My Great Grandad watched him die, he spoke very little of it later on by all accounts.
Strange world we live in when our governments send children to fight their wars. What a shitshow.
